Another Newcastle Uni gig. It goes without saying that the atmosphere was incredible and everyone was amped (and either
high or drunk). The night started off well when we got fast-tracked past the normal chumps. Yep, that's right. When concerts
sell out, uni students become VIPs. The Union better love us for the money we pay!
Admittedly there were worries before the concert. None of us had heard them play live and we were used to fun bands dicking
around while delivering A class material. We got what we wanted. There wasn't as much audience interaction as I'm used to,
but they're still pretty good stage performers. Don't get me wrong, the music was incredible. To be honest, I think some of
the sonds sound better live.
The set was pretty much taken straight from "Get Born", which was expected. I had to wait till the end to hear "cold
hard bitch" and "get me outta here". I would have thought that they'd pull out "are you gonna be my girl" at the end or even,
heaven forbid, in the encore. It came out about half way through the set. We all went mental. The entire place was a mosh
pit. There is no way you should be able to fit that many students into the bar. You know the "how many clowns can you pile
into a mini?" trick...
They weren't as friendly as some of the other bands we've had here though. Didn't get much lovin when I went down to
get my wrist band signed as a birthday present. Wasn't close enough (or tall enough) to snag a drumstick or towel.
The major let down: having to stare at the back of some beefy guy's shirt all night.
