If I had a time machine I would, among other things, go back to last night and
watch the gig again! Absolutely brilliant. I should have taken my sister along, and then slapped her for not knowing
who the Cat Empire were. I only knew a few of their songs before we got there but it didn't seem to matter. My joints
are so sore from dancing all night! A couple of my friends refused to move (though I did catch one of them dancing to 'Hello')
but a couple of people I'd only just met and I danced the night away.
As musicians, they are pure talent (and I'm not just saying this cause I'm a sucker
for things with a jazz backbone). As showmen they're equally good. They got us involved, and seemed to be dancing and
bouncing about as much as we were. I can say from experience that some of the keyboard parts were death hard and the keyboardist
can play for me any day *grins*. Apart from that, the people I was with gave some of the best, and most amusing, dance
entertainment we're likely to see. We had the rest of the balcony involved. Again, another sold out effort for the bar. I
couldn't move so I went outside. You know something's right when its raining and 10 degrees outside but you're wearing a singlet
top and not feeling the cold.
Highlights: the classic party song medley in the bridge of "Days like these" and the improv.
I walked away with: another burns scar to add to my collection (this one wasn't
my fault. Stupid drunk, dancing smokers) and my admission bracelet (yay, hot pink)
Encore: only two songs but with plenty of improv stuck into the bridges. "Hello" was the last song in
the main set, "The chariot" to end the encore.
